The ECO4 scheme is the fourth phase of the Energy Company Obligation scheme.
ECO4 started in April 2022 and £4 billion of funding has been allocated to improve the energy efficiency of homes across the UK.
The first stage of the ECO4 scheme targets the lowest-efficiency homes across the UK. The initial targeting criteria are focused on low-income homes without a mains gas supply.
Off gas properties are generally heated with LPG, oil, electricity or solid fuel.
As part of the ECO4 scheme, eligible homes can receive property insulation, solar panels and a renewable energy heating system for free. This is a whole home scheme so properties will receive all suitable upgrades to improve the general energy performance.
The scheme is funded by big 6 energy suppliers and UK Government as part of climate change pledges.
