What is ECO4?

ECO4 started in April 2022 and £4 billion of funding has been allocated to improve the energy efficiency of homes across the UK.

The first stage of the ECO4 scheme targets homes across the UK that have the lowest-efficiency. The initial targeting criteria focuses on low-income homes without a mains gas supply.

Off gas properties are generally heated with LPG, oil, electricity or solid fuel.

As part of the ECO4 scheme, eligible homes can receive solar panels, air source heat pumps and insulation for free. This is a whole home scheme so properties will receive all suitable upgrades to improve the general energy performance.

The scheme is funded by the big 6 energy suppliers and the UK Government as part of climate change pledges.
