The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) phase 2 started in April 2023 and focuses on improving the EPC ratings of properties that are not connected to a mains gas supply.
The Home Upgrade Grant is designed to help homeowners reduce their energy consumption and lower their bills. It covers the cost of installing energy efficiency measures. such as wall, loft and underfloor insulation, heat pumps, solar panels, double glazing and electric storage heaters.
To qualify for HUG you need to:
- Not be connected to the mains gas grid.
- Earn below £31,000 a year (as a household).
- Have an EPC rating of D, E, F or G.
- Live in an area where the local council has signed up to the scheme.
The grant is only available to specific postcodes in England. Anyone interested in applying must check with their own local council or authority to confirm that their property is within an eligible area.
