What does the ECO4 Scheme Cover?

ECO4 is the 4th version of the Energy Company Obligation, designed to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions across the country but what exactly does it cover?

The scheme places a Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) on energy suppliers who are obligated to promote measures that will improve the ability of low-income, fuel-poor and vulnerable households to warm their properties.

What does ECO4 Cover?

In its aim to improve energy efficiency and energy prices, ECO4 will cover the following solutions can be carried out on existing homes:

Efficient Heating Systems

Installing energy-efficient heating systems like air-source heat pumps and biomass boilers are covered under the scheme.

This revolutionary technology is used to upgrade older and inefficient fossil fuel boilers, giving households a 25% decrease in energy prices.

Repairing Boilers

Some boilers may not need a replacement, but ECO4 allows funding for fixing and upgrading pre-installed boilers for better efficiency.

This allows homes to make use of their boilers for up to 12 years.

Boiler repair under the scheme also includes diagnostics, cleaning and repairs.

This is the most common aspect of the ECO4 scheme, helping save around £1,800 a year on energy costs.

Cavity walls, solid walls, room-in-roof and lost insulation can be installed but all comes down to the household specifications.

Providing eligibility is fine (qualifying benefits and EPC requirements) a household can gain energy efficiency upgrades in the form of heating systems, insulation, and boiler repairs.
