COP29: Everything you need to know about this year’s event

The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan. The conference takes place over a series of days, from November 11th – November 22nd.

What is COP?

COP, stands for “Conference of the Parties”. It is a yearly global meeting held by the United Nations to tackle climate change. It began in 1995 and brings together almost every country in the world. At COP, countries discuss how they can work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, set new climate targets, and find ways to protect the environment. These meetings are important for making international agreements, like the Paris Agreement. They also help countries raise the money they need to deal with climate change and its effects.

Discussions at COP can also influence energy policies, which impact energy prices and customer bills. By promoting cleaner energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, COP aims to create more stable and affordable energy.

What will be discussed at COP29?

A whole host of meetings and speeches will take place at COP29. The full calendar can be accessed via the UN website. The main talking points are as follows:

Reviewing Climate Targets. COP29 will continue to assess how countries plan to limit long-term global temperature rises to 1.5C – a target set by the Paris Agreement in 2015.

Climate Finance. There will be a big focus on increasing financial support, especially for developing nations. This includes launching new funds and discussing partnerships to boost investments.

Health and Climate. COP29 will include talks on creating policies that connect environmental and health strategies. The aim is to recognise how climate change affects public health,

Fair Transitioning. There will be talks to ensure that the shift to greener practices is fair for all, especially workers in industries transitioning to sustainable methods. This will involve discussions on job training and support.

Technology and Digitalisation. The conference will hold a special Digitalisation Day to discuss the role of technology in supporting climate goals while managing its environmental footprint.

Development and Youth. COP29 will highlight the importance of educating and engaging young people to boost society’s resilience against climate impacts.

Inclusivity. The final day will focus on Indigenous Peoples, gender equality, biodiversity, and protecting oceans. COP29 will shed light on these groups’ vital roles in climate policy creation.

How could COP29 impact your energy bills?

Policy changes and agreements made during this year’s conference can have a direct impact on your energy bills. Policies promoting energy efficiency could emerge from COP29 discussions, encouraging countries to invest in better insulation, efficient appliances, and smart grid technologies. For the UK, this could mean more government incentives.

Currently, there are a range of UK government-backed grants and schemes running for this purpose. These schemes save the average UK household hundreds off their energy bills every year. To see if you’re eligible, simply click on the ‘apply now’ button below.

Winston here from Iowa. I’m always watching to see what newer sites are going up and I just wanted to see if you would like an extra hand with getting some targeted traffic, create custom AI bots to answer questions from visitors on your site or walk them through a solution of any sort or even a sales process/funnel. I can even create a custom persona of yourself, custom videos/images/adcopy, remove negative listings, the list goes on. I’ll even shoulder 90% of the costs, dedicating my time and tools that I’ve created myself and bought over the years. I’ve been doing this for over 22 years, helped thousands of people and have loved every minute of it.

There’s virtually no cost on my end to do any of this for you except for my time starting at 99 a month. I don’t mean to impose; I was just curious if I could lend a hand.

Brief history, I’ve been working from home for a couple decades now and I love helping others. I’m married, have three girls and if I can provide for them by helping you and giving back by using the tools and knowledge I’ve built and learned over the years, I can’t think of a better win-win.

It amazes me that no one else is helping others quite like I do and I’d love to show you how I can help out. So, if you need any extra help in any way, please let me know either way as I value your time and don’t want to pester you.

PS – If I didn’t mention something you might need help with just ask, I only mentioned a handful of things to keep this brief 🙂

All the best,

Winston
