What Happens when you Qualify for ECO4?

If you’ve just found out you qualify for ECO4, you may be left wondering what happens after?

What Happens Next?

Once we have spoken to you, we will refer you to one of our accredited installers. They will then visit your home and conduct a property survey.

The surveyors can gather information on your circumstances and conclude what energy upgrades your home needs.

You could receive:

• Insulation
• Heating system upgrades
• Existing boiler repairs

It is important to remember that with ECO installs, all of the measures identified by your installer must be installed as this is a requirement to be eligible and you can’t choose what you do and don’t want to have.  

What If You Didn’t Qualify for ECO4?

If you didn’t qualify for ECO4, other options could still be available to you.

ECO4 Flex

This is the Local Authority (LA’s) and Supplier Flex element of the scheme which allows LA’s (including Scottish and Welsh governments to refer households to an obligated energy supplier.

Energy suppliers also hold the power to refer households under ECO4 Flex. This is usually when the consumer is struggling with fuel debts consistently or is using pre-payment meters that are regularly unable to remain connected to their fuel supplies because of financial struggles.

Eligibility

If you live in a property requiring energy efficiency upgrades and have a combined household yearly income of £31,000 or under, you could be eligible.

You may also be eligible if a person in your home has a severe long-term health condition that is made worse by the cold:

• A cardiovascular condition,
• A respiratory disease,
• Limited mobility, or
• Immunosuppression

There may be other criteria that LA’s can use to identify low-income, susceptible, and fuel-poor households.
