Barclays Bank and British Gas Partner for Energy Efficiency

Barclays Bank and British Gas have extended their partnership to offer half-price home energy efficiency checks. The bank will help its customers explore ways that they could improve their home’s energy efficiency.

Thanks to this partnership, Barclays UK residential mortgage customers now have access to a British Gas Home Health Check at a discounted price of £50 (usually £99).

They are also eligible to receive a free Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which normally costs £20 with British Gas.

Barclays Customers Tell All

Newly revealed research from Barclays has said that 70 per cent of homeowners desire a more efficient home in energy consumption whilst 35% say they are put off by a lack of knowledge of the changes that their property requires.

Almost 45 per cent say they would benefit from personalised recommendations for ways to make their home more energy efficient.

British Gas Home Health Check

The discounted Home Health Check will provide a survey of the home and an accredited domestic energy assessor will look at how energy is being used within the customer’s property. They will deliver guidance to the customers, revealing how they could reduce energy bills, lower energy use, and create a more efficient home.

Residential mortgage customers will get an additional EPC rating. This is to determine the energy rating of the property and place it within the range of A-G. This would massively help those customers whose homes do not have an accurate or current EPC rating.

Barclays Helping to Overcome the Barrier

Head of Sustainable Finance at Barclays UK, Nick Stace has commented stating:

“Aside from the upfront cost, one of the major barriers our customers face when trying to make their home more energy efficient is confusion about which of the various upgrades are right for the property. Through our ongoing partnership with British Gas, we want to help over this barrier by providing customers with personalised recommendations for saving money and potentially reducing their energy consumption.”

Summary

With an enthusiasm to help their customers understand energy efficiency and how it can be improved, Barclays Bank extended team up with British Gas aims to guide and offer personalised recommendations to bring down the barriers of confusion regarding energy efficiency and how it can improve a property.
